Admiral Ivan Isakov and Armenian Naval Leadership

Ivan Isakov (1894–1967), born Hovhannes Ter-Isahakyan, was another prominent Armenian figure in the Soviet military establishment.

A naval officer and strategist, Isakov served in senior positions within the Soviet Navy during World War II.

His work included operational planning, naval coordination, and strategic responsibilities.

Isakov was seriously wounded in 1942 during operations connected with the Caucasus campaign.

Despite his injuries, he continued contributing to Soviet naval affairs.

He was eventually promoted to Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union in 1955.

His career demonstrates that Armenian participation in World War II extended beyond ground combat and included senior leadership in naval strategy.
