Yuri Sakunts pulls 65 tons in Yerevan

On August 4, 2022, Armenian boxer and strongman Yuri Sakunts demonstrated a remarkable feat at the Yerevan metro facility known as Metropoliteni El-Havaqakayan. At approximately 1:15 p.m. local time, he pulled two subway railcars with a combined reported weight of 65 tons across a distance of 20 meters, using his little finger. A crowd of spectators attended the event.

Building on an earlier record

The achievement followed Sakunts' February 25, 2019 challenge, when he reportedly moved a 33-ton wagon over the same 20-meter distance using his little finger. The original HYEDRAM report describes his career in boxing, Armenian martial arts, power triathlon and power wrestling, alongside a series of national and international record claims.

Recognition and athletic career

According to the original 2022 report, Sakunts' prior accomplishments had been recognized by the World Sports Organization and the Vajra Book of World Records. He was seeking Guinness World Records recognition; the article does not establish that Guinness had certified this particular feat.

Supporting Armenian youth

Sakunts' work extends beyond competition. The article highlights his involvement in youth athletics and encouragement of autistic children through exercise and strength training. Those efforts helped attract organizations interested in supporting his sporting challenges and community initiatives.

HYEDRAM and event supporters

HYEDRAM/HYECoin, co-founded by Tiran Antaplian and Donald Wilson Bush, supported the event alongside King Chip, HIRECLOUT, MeaningfulWorld NGO, Diamond Studio Production and Narek Arshakyan Photography. Diamond Studio was credited for video production.

HYECoin described its broader mission as promoting Armenian community and economic development through sports, education, medicine, banking and entrepreneurship. The original announcement also discusses the HYEDram stablecoin and its proposed role in facilitating commercial transactions.
